Carla Woods was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana where her love for all things artistic began. The story goes that she was singing before she could even complete a full sentence. Her parents remember hearing “Rock The Boat” belted from the back seat of their Oldsmobile Delta 88 in perfect pitch by their little 18-month-old daughter.
Carla developed her skills as an all-around performer at the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music where she received a BFA in musical theater. She then moved directly to NYC, the Big Apple, and thus her career began.
She has traveled the globe sharing her deep love of performing. From Bali to Norway, Texas to Nebraska, Carla has toured the world on land and sea sharing her gifts. One of her favorites was performing in the First National Tour of All Shook Up, directed by Tony-award winner Christopher Ashley. She performed the role of Lorraine (understudy & partial swing) and shared the stage with the multi-talented international star, Susan Anton. Carla also performed and understudied the role of Deloris Van Cartier in the First National Tour of Sister Act, directed by Tony-award winner Jerry Zaks. Most recently, Carla received the Berkshire Theater Critics Award for best ensemble, for her performance in "Shipwrecked", in which she played over 17 different characters in a 90-minute play. Carla performed in some of the premier regional theaters in the country including The Guthrie, Cleveland Playhouse, Riverside Theater, and the Virginia Stage Company to name a few.
She performed on the high seas in several productions with Royal Caribbean International, sharing the stage with the West End star, Hugh Maynard. She also developed and performed as a guest entertainer in her one-woman show for Royal Caribbean.
In television, Carla has appeared as April in IDtv's Diabolical- Mother of All Lies , which was the first episode in their 2nd season. Commercially, Carla can bee seen in a new Spectrum Reach commercial and is featured in a Longhorn Steakhouse national commercial, to name a few. She plays the Gardener in short episodic called It Lives In My Closet. Carla will be seen as the detective in the upcoming Netflix Documentary film, The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel.
Carla has performed and worked with some of the best in the business including: Billy Porter, Kristin Chenoweth, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Robert Lopez, Harvey Fierstein, Alan Menken, and Stephen Oremus, among others.
